February 2009 Newsletter

Hello Raw Shooters

Here it is February and I don’t know what happened to January! All of us are busy one way or the other:  some parts of the world are in the middle of wedding season, others are busy making new contracts for this year, and commercial photography is always on-going. No matter what type of photography you do, we are here to help you save time. We can set up a free FTP account where you can upload your images for editing and download the edited version. We keep the edited files in your FTP account for 15 days at no extra charge! If you need more time to download your pictures, please contact our Customer Service at:

Now for this month’s tip:

Now let’s go to this month tip, where I’m going to show you some small but very helpful accessories for Flash photography.

1-Small ball head:
A small ball head such as the one in this photo is very handy

If you’re like me and like to shoot off-camera flash with an umbrella, you know how difficult it is to align the flash gun to the centre of umbrella.

By using a small ball head it becomes very easy!

2-Small soft box for flash:

I love the creativity of off-camera flash photography. We all know about Lightsphere® but there are many other options available which allow you to be more creative.

This little soft box turns your flash to a portable studio light! The result is amazing for you and for your clients! Check HERE for more details:

This unit is very handy and the key features are:
* No adapter ring is necessary
* Umbrella base opens and closes quickly- used with standard umbrella receptacle
* Ideal size for hair light
* Silver interior provides maximum light output

3-Color Filters

Color filters help us to be more creative with our flash photography. Besides balancing the color temperature of flash gun to ambient light, we’re able to create some dramatic effects using unusual colors! For more information check the link below:

If you need to know more about Balancing the ambient light and flash, contact us  and we will be more than happy to share our experiments with you.

4-Monopod:

We all know that a Monopod is very useful to stabilize our cameras, but have you tried mounting your off-camera flash on a monopod to achieve more creative lighting angles?  Here is one example picture of the interesting effects of using flash this way.
