Welcome to our February Newsletter
Hello Raw shooters,
Thank you for your emails and support. We appreciate your encouraging comments about the newsletter and our tip of the month. When you speak, we're listening!
For those of you who haven't used our Optimum Image Editing service yet, I want to encourage you to take advantage of this service and its introductory price.
Photographers who use our services have given their feedback on how we've made their life easier and helped them to focus on the next project.
Your keen photographer's eye and editing skills have taken my digital images to the next level. The resulting prints are fantastic. I love to shoot, but I'm not so keen about working for long hours at my computer - I am grateful to be able to turn everything over to you! You've made my workload incredibly lighter.
I definitely recommend that photographers who demand the best possible results from their work should give your services a serious look. Can we do it all ourselves? Yes, sure we can. But is doing it ourselves a practical use of time? This is much the same as the old days of sending film and slides to a lab for processing. Trust the professionals. For me, it's a natural solution. Thank you Ted!

How do we save you money and time? You've just shot wedding ‘A' and have 800 raw images, with 200 jpegs promised to your clients. The task of editing 800 raw files to get a finished collection of 200 is our specialty and where we can save you so much time. Send us all 800 raw files with instructions to edit the best 200. We will go through all 800 files, select the best 200, edit them, convert them to jpegs, and send them back to you while you are working on wedding B and C! You pay only for the final 200 images. At the end of the day you'll have top quality images for your clients and more free time for you. How is that for peace of mind?

Let's go to the tip of the month!
How do I check the color of the image as a proof in Photoshop?
Photoshop 7, CS, and CS2 show the color as CYMK by default. In last month's newsletter we learned how to check the photos in your monitor's RGB profile. This month we'll discuss how to check the pictures with a particular ICC profile.
1- Find the ICC profile of your photo lab, printer, and paper. You can find the ICC profile by searching the web or the third party web sites. One of the most well known is Dry Creek at:
http://www.drycreekphoto.com/
2- Install the profile in your Adobe Photoshop folder.
3- Open the picture in Photoshop and then go to VIEW> Proof Set up> Custom
4- From drop down menu of Profile select the profile that you want.
5- Check off the box beside to Preserve Color Number.
6- From the Intent drop menu select Relative Colorimetric
7- Check the box for Use Black Point Compensation.
8- Finally check the box Paper White to simulate the print on the white photo paper. You'll now have a very close match for color, brightness, and contrast to your final print - provided that you have a calibrated monitor and the right ICC Profile.
Happy Raw shooting during the 29 days of February 2008!
Kind regards,
Ted Karlsalr
